Who we are
JW Associates is a small, woman-owned company located in Summit County, Colorado. For the past 30 years, our primary business has been providing water and land management agencies with analysis, planning, and facilitation services. Jessica Wald and Brad Piehl are the owners of JW Associates and are directly involved with all our projects.
We focus on five areas:
Watershed Wildfire Hazard Assessments
These Wildfire/Watershed Assessments identify hazards, prioritize 6th level watersheds, and recommend measures to protect those watersheds that provide or convey critical community water supplies from the adverse effects of post-wildfire hydrologic changes, including flooding, erosion, debris flows, and deposition.
Pre- & Post-Wildfire Planning and Mitigation
Wildfire planning, especially for water supply agencies, is prudent for the long term land health and hazard reduction. JW Associates has completed a number of projects that have included planning pre- & post-fire actions as well as post-fire mitigation.
Watershed Planning
These large-and small-scale watershed planning projects have involved hazard and values assessments, watershed prioritization and targeting watersheds with specific projects to reduce hazards and/or create greater watershed resilience.
Environmental Planning
We have worked, in compliance with NEPA, the National Environmental Policy Act, to identify process difficulties in projects. We work with federal agencies and stakeholders to increase action efficiency and find solutions to projects.
Collaboration & Outreach
We all know the power of community. That’s why we make collaboration and public involvement a priority. We have designed, organized, and facilitated dozens of public meetings and countless collaborative group meetings. We work hard to hear out diverse group perspectives, and work towards common goals.
