Aerial Mulching Process
Step 1.
Harvest the burned trees using a feller buncher, as pictured in video.

Create mulch using the grinder, as pictured in this video.

Spread the mulch in designated areas using a helicopter and net process, along with tractors to load the nets.
Following the Cameron Peak Fire, JW Associates completed a mulch monitoring program, in collaboration with Coalition for the Poudre River Watershed, Colorado Water Conservation Board, City of Greeley, and others. The executive summary below highlights the key findings from the monitoring program as well as recommendations for future mulch operations from the key players that worked together to implement one of the largest scale aerial wood mulching programs in Colorado to-date.
